
Paul Blackburn’s return to the Yankees on a free agent deal didn’t generate much buzz and certainly didn’t placate fan desire for a major addition to the roster.
But the right-hander, who joined the Yankees for the final five weeks of the regular season and in the playoffs after being released by the Mets in August, has a unique perspective on how the two New York teams went in different directions in 2025.
The right-hander arrived in Queens in a trade deadline deal from the A’s in 2024 and was with the organization until this past August, when he was released after an injury-marred year.
He then signed with the Yankees and will be back this season after agreeing to a free agent deal. He noted the difference between the two teams.
